Coralie Watanabe Prosper graduated from the National Film School of Nice. Her final project, Mathi(eu), is a multi-award-winning short film that has been showcased at festivals worldwide. The film intimately portrays the daily challenges of a transgender teenager.

In 2016, Coralie earned a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from East 15 Acting School in London. Afterward, she founded the French-Japanese theatre company Sakura no Ki no Shita 桜の木の下, where she wrote, directed, produced, and performed in several productions.

Coralie recently completed her short film Kotowari 断り and is now focused on developing her debut feature film Wagako 我が子, which is being produced in Japan by Miyuki Fukuma of Bunbuku, the production company of renowned filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda.

Coralie’s work is deeply social and political, driven by a commitment to tell stories that challenge societal norms and spotlight marginalized voices.
